Can anyone make good use of an Epson V700 scanner?

I've just replaced my Epson V700 Photo scanner with the newer V800 model. The old one is still working, so if you can make good use of it please leave a comment below and I'll get in touch.

The good news:

  • It's free!
  • I've been using it until very recently - any of the detailed enlargements you've seen from me on Gwulo came from this scanner.

The bad news:

  • It's quite bulky, so make sure you have enough space for it: 503‎ x 308 x 152 mm (Width x Depth x Height)
  • You'll need to come to San Po Kong to collect it
  • It's missing the slide holder, so it will be used for scanning prints
  • It has the CDROMs with the software on, but they're dated 2005 so I'm not 100% sure they work on modern Macs / PCs. (I use Vuescan, which costs USD70 and works with just about anything.)
  • The scanner's lamp is starting to fade, which is why I bought the newer V800 scanner. After processing scans through Photoshop or setting the scanner software to auto-levels there's little obvious difference, but as I've started scanning pictures for my next book I wanted to get the best from them. Below is a comparison of scans made by the new V800 and the old V700 without making any adjustments.
